Terrestrial was developed within the span of two days for one of the many render weekly challenges on Instagram. It was conceived as a blue sky design. More specifically, what if the main structure of a shoe could be 3d printed with a fabric linear inserted for comfort.
The design was completely developed in Rhino as a SubD surface reparametrized as a quad mesh. The mesh was further distilled to be populated with mesh node curves which can then be dynamically thickened according to a variety of variables.
